Operation Paper Trail is a set of six fun missions in GTA Online where you work as a secret agent. These missions came out in July 2022 with The Criminal Enterprises update. Right now, they’re paying double money this week , making it a great time to play them.

How to Start Operation Paper Trail
Starting Operation Paper Trail is easy. When you log into GTA Online, you’ll get a phone call from Agent ULP. He works for a secret government group called the IAA. He wants you to help him look into the Duggan family and find out why gas prices are so high in Los Santos.
After the call, look for a “U” marker on your map. This shows where the IAA building is. Go there to start your first mission. You can do these missions by yourself or play with up to 4 friends. You can start them in any type of session, public or private.

Operation Paper Trail Mission List
There are six missions in the Operation Paper Trail story. Here’s what you need to do in each one:

Mission Walkthroughs
Here’s a short guide to all the missions in the Operation Trail event:
Mission 1: Intelligence
This first mission is pretty easy. You’ll sneak into Mason Duggan’s apartment to hack his computer. The game keeps you in sneak mode the whole time, and there are no bad guys to fight. You start off by playing a hacking game similar to wordle. Once that’s done, you’ll infiltrate two FIB buildings and steal some computer parts.
Mission 2: Counterintelligence
In this mission, you hack two spy drones to find a secret base. But it’s a trick. The FIB catches you and puts you in a van with a bomb. You need to turn off the bomb, drive through police cars blocking the road, and take the van to a safe house in Sandy Shores.
Mission 3: Extraction
The IAA wants you to save one of their people from the FIB. This mission has lots of fighting. You need to plan your moves carefully to get the agent out without making too much noise.
Mission 4: Asset Seizure
You need to break five signal blockers all over the map. Then steal Duggan’s van and drive it to Great Chaparral. Enemy helicopters and shooters will chase you. This is one of the harder missions.
Mission 5: Operation Paper Trail
Go to the Mile High Club building. Use drones to watch a secret meeting between Mason Duggan and the FIB. Your job is to stop the deal, steal Mason’s briefcase, and give it to IAA agents. Lots of FIB agents and guards are there, so get ready for a big fight.
Mission 6: Cleanup
The last mission takes you to Mount Chiliad. You need to deal with what’s left of Clifford, the computer brain from the Doomsday Heist. This mission wraps up the story about the Duggans using old computer files to control gas prices.

- Play This Week: Finish all missions before January 14, 2026 to get double or four times the normal money
- Stay Hidden: Missions like Intelligence are much easier if you don’t let enemies see you
- Use Big Guns: Asset Seizure and Operation Paper Trail need strong weapons
- Get Friends to Help: All missions can be done alone, but the hard ones are easier with a team
- Do Extra Challenges: Look in your Career Progress menu for more tasks that give bonus money and RP
